The Village of Trang Khla

Trang Khla is a green village. Palm trees are reaching for the sun and in little gardens people grow their own vegetables. Until a couple of years ago however, the lush gardens with tomatoes and eggplants were dry dusty beds of sand on which nothing could grow. “Lack of access to water used to be a very big problem here” an old woman explains. “Besides not having water for our own consumption, our harvest completely depended on the rainy seasons.” ”Most of the year we could not grow anything!” However, after CWS together with its partner assisted the community with digging water wells, many things changed in Trang Khla. Around the wells, people now grow vegetables and because the wells have concrete walls, they are durable and more hygienic. “It’s such a difference with the situation before!” “We can drink whenever we are thirsty and we can even water the plants with water from our own well!” Life cannot exist without water and by making access to this precious liquid easier, village life has become more pleasant.
