Community helps single mother rebuild her family shelter
Soem Choem deaf widow in Beng Village, Kompong Thom
In June a heavy storm hit Beng, a remote village in the CWS community based development catchments area. But relations are building as confidence grows between CWS staff and from villager to villager as was experienced by Ms Soem Choem after her ‘cottage’ collapsed in the monsoon rain.

Emergency Response in Sa Em, Preah Vihear
On 19 May 2009, CWS Cambodia under funding support from Action by Churches Together (ACT) responded emergency aids to 338 Internal Displace People along Cambodia-Thai border.
The tension between Thailand and Cambodia over a disputed area of Preah Vihear temple and other areas along the border has overshadowed us for almost one year. Many people living along the border suffer from this potential armed conflict situation, they escaped from this military confrontation to find safe place.

Celebrating 13/17 years of Social Change
The year 2009 is the 30 year anniversary of Church World Service in Cambodia. Our bi-annual donor meeting celebrated CWS approaches to social change, through 17 years of direct services to the rural poor in 339 villages of Cambodia and 13 years of work with 43 local Cambodian partners.
We celebrating 13/17 years of Socail Change
We met together 3 days (25-27 March) in Phnom Penh with 35 organization partners and our country representatives from Indonesia and Vietnam and donors from Australia and New Zealand.
